What would bc be without its wild?

Dear British Columbia,

Been feeling a bit nostalgic lately. Maybe it’s the coffee talking, or maybe I’m just getting older, heh. I’ve been flipping through my old scrapbook, thinking about the days I spent in the wild — camping, fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, messing around outside. Man, we were beasts back then.

I REMEMBER EVERY TRAIL, EVERY TIDE, EVERY TURN.

My niece and nephew see it differently. They’re good kits — sharp, funny, always plugged in — but most of their adventures play out on screens. Makes me wonder if they’ll ever get to know the wild the way I did — cold paws, muddy boots and all.

Lately, I’ve been hearing folks talk about how these wild places are changing faster than we thought. Some say we’ve gotta protect nature. Others say we need to build and develop to keep the lights on. Me? I figure BC’s big enough for all of us. There’s room for both the towns and the trees, right?

I’M HITTING THE ROAD. I NEED TO FIND OUT FOR MYSELF.

British Columbia, I’m packing up the truck, grabbing my camera, a pawful of snacks, and I’m coming to see you! It’s about time.

See you out there
